For the students of Kitamba Primary School in Masindi District, access to clean, safe water has moved from a challenge to a certainty. Blue Crane Communications officially commissioned a transformative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative on Thursday, November 27, 2025, demonstrating a powerful commitment to community health, education, and long-term sustainability.
The project began with the successful rehabilitation of the vital Kitamba Primary School borehole. However, this intervention went far beyond simple infrastructure repair. Blue Crane Communications’ strategy was to ensure the community could sustain the success for generations.
"We are passionate about learning and for children to stay in school. That's why we partnered with The Water Trust so that kids stay in school with safe water. We remain committed towards giving back to the community and pledge our support for future projects." said Ali Kiseka, Head of Marketing and Comms, Blue Crane Communications.
To ensure the project's longevity, an intensive training program was conducted. A total of 14 participants attended the core training, comprising 10 males and 4 females pupils. This motivated group, which included the Headteacher, 2 dedicated teachers, and 11 PTA(parents, teachers Association) members, are now equipped as certified health advocates. Their training covered essential Personal Hygiene and Hand Washing techniques, general Hygiene and Sanitation principles, and foundational knowledge for effective Water Point Management.
A strong emphasis was also put on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). The School Health Club Training on MHM involved 19 pupils (10 females and 9 males). The training focused specifically on the use of reusable sanitary pads, liquid soap, and WASH Practices to promote improved hygiene. By normalizing MHM and providing tangible solutions, this project directly addresses a major barrier to education, helping ensure that female students among the 327 enrolled can attend school regularly and with dignity.
"We not only have clean water now, but all these pupils, including boys, are graduates in soap making and menstrual hygiene management." Kibaba Irumba Job, Headteacher mentioned.
AÂ proactive School Health Club was also launched. The 25 trainees have been transformed into a permanent task force, guaranteeing continuous monitoring of hygiene practices and water facility maintenance.

This dedication to operation and maintenance means the Kitambo Primary School community is now equipped to manage and sustain its clean water access without future external dependency. To ensure swift future repairs, parents have agreed to pay 1,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX 1,000) per student into a maintenance fund in case the borehole breaks down.
Blue Crane Communications’ strategic investment, in partnership with The Water Trust, stands as a powerful model for corporate engagement, proving that private-sector support can foster resilient, knowledgeable, and independent communities.
"Thank you, Blue Crane Communications and The Water Trust, we are so happy, because water is life."Â Eseza Warwo, Vice Chairperson said.
